Venus and Serena Williams secured their spot in the women’s doubles semifinals with a 7-5, 6-4 win over the tough team of Yan Zi and Zheng Jie.
The No. 1 seeded team and defending champions Cara Black and Liezel Huber also advanced to the semis with a 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 victory over Nuria Llagostera Vives and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez.
Sexy Williams sisters advanced in straight sets, but the win wasn’t easy. Venus struggled with her serve throughout the entire match, committing three double faults in a single critical game in the first set.

Fans at the 2009 US Open received a special treat on Monday, as they were the first ones to attend a Serena Williams official signing of her new book, “On the Line.”
Williams held her first book signing, which hit stores last Tuesday, at the USTA Membership Booth on the grounds of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

On Day 5 of the 2009 US Open, the defending US Open champion advanced to the fourth round with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez of Spain, who was making her first third-round appearance in Flushing Meadows.
Williams has yet to lose a set so far in the tournament but Martinez Sanchez pushed her the most of any opponent yet, winning eight games in the match, which was more than Williams had lost in her first two matches combined.
